On Wednesday, January 20, XVELA parent company Cargotec announced that it has acquired INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG, a leading provider of stowage planning solutions, which together with XVELA will accelerate the development and delivery via cloud technology of next-generation stowage planning and execution tools.
“The acquisition will add customers, talent, additional knowledge, capabilities and software products to support the future growth of XVELA as the leading collaboration platform serving the needs of ocean carriers, terminals and their shipping partners,“ says Olli Isotalo, President of Kalmar.
Together INTERSCHALT and XVELA will provide terminals and ocean carriers with the ability to collaborate in real time using shared information and tools, resulting in improved visibility, increased speed of planning, and the flexibility to proactively address variances in the vessel stowage process that impact operational performance – reducing both risk and costs.
Existing XVELA PowerStow users will gain additional value as XVELA leverages the broad experience, in-depth knowledge and best practices of INTERSCHALT to enhance the development of the PowerStow solution.
“We believe the acquisition is great news for all customers of XVELA and INTERSCHALT,” says Christopher Mazza, VP and Chief Customer Officer of XVELA. “It will enable us to be better positioned to serve our customers with our existing products and to provide new, integrated solutions in the future to further increase efficiency, improve productivity, and lower costs.”
